I finished installing the gauges (autometer phantoms) yesterday afternoon and was pretty excited for the drive home. It was hard not to keep squashing the throttle and watching the needles moving :-laf . The question i have is about the trans temp gauge. I have the sending unit mounted in the transmission cooler line that i got from mass diesel. It is the hot line out that goes to the cooler. When i turn the key to the on position the temp needle comes off its resting position and jumps up slightly but under the 100 deg mark keeping in mind that the truck has been sitting in 60 deg garage and has not yet been run. I let truck warm up for a minute or two and start driving home. The first 10-15 minutes is intown driving and at this point the temp has risen very slightly but not quite the 100 mark yet. I get on the highway and right after i have accelerated up to 70 it is reading right on 100. It didnt get any hotter until i got off the ramp and was sitting in traffic and kinda half standing on the throttle to see if i could get the gauge to do anything. I maybe brought the rpm up to 700 or so and only did it for 20 seconds or so. The temp came a little over the 100 mark and looking at the hash marks on gauge would say it was around 120 tops. Does this sound right ? Or do you think i have a problem somewhere? I left my infrared t mometer in my box @ work but will be able to check with that on tuesday. I just dont know if i can wait that long to check it out :D

Sounds right, my probe is in one of the test ports but I see about the same readings, it heats up to about 150 around town after 20 minutes, on the highway the TC is locked and with all the airflow it is hard for it to warm up above 120 empty. I see pretty quick rises when I am towing and get into traffic, I have had it as high as 190.

Well at least i feel a little better. So basicly there is not much movement on the gauge compared to the pyro and boost? I just pulled the 5th wheel hitch out of the truck otherwise i would have hooked up and tested it out. I will check it with thermometer on tuesday and see how accurate it is. I must say that the gauges look pretty cool @ nite although my wife found it quite odd that i was sitting in the driveway @ 10pm just enjoying them :-laf . Thanks for the input.
