Just installed an ISSPRO trans guage with the probe located in the cooling line coming from the T. C. I used the manifold from Diesel Manor, really nice piece! It replaces the whole cooling line and comes with the manifold for the probe built-in. Anyways, took the truck for a dirve about 20 minutes and never saw the gauge move, it never left the 100 mark. Im really surprised because this is reading the temp from the TC, which is the hottest reading, and I can't get it to move???? Does anyone else have the probe located there?? And what kind of readings are you getting???????

Most of the heat will come from the TC. Put it in Drive or Reverse while holding the brake and sitting still. You should see a rise in a couple of minutes.

After 20 minutes you should see something happening. I have my sender in the pan and my Autometer gauge reads 130-140 within 10 minutes of driving. Yours should move even faster due to being at the hottest point right after the TC. Sounds like it might be a bad power connection, bad gauge, or a bad sender or feed wire.

So I just put my truck in drive and set the parkbrake for about 3 minutes. Took an heat gun and measured the transmission line that the probe is in. It read 130, the return line was about 110, however my temp guage didnt move! Does anyone know how to test the probe, amp box or gauge to see whats not working??

I have had the sender in my transmission for 2 years and the only time it reads anything off the 100 mark is when I am towing a 15k 5er. Then it will run easy pulling around 140. If I am really pulling it can run up to 180 and a little over. Under normal driving conditions it wont get off the mark very much . Just my expierience. I am using a double deep Mag Hi-Tec pan and the sender is in the pan.

Mine does the same thing I tested everything from the connections to the probe. It was all fine. What are your ambient air temps? Mine will stay very low when temps are cold outside or on the higway. But in the city or towing it gets right up there. If you are sure about your connections leave it alone you should be fine

I have optix (sp?) trans temp on my 04. 5 on the trans cooler line. Normaly runs at 180. If I am pulling trailer and not in tow/haul mode I can see temps of 220 plus until T/C locks in, then right back down to 180. It may not be the easiest thing to do but take the sending unit out,Put in cup of very hot water. Gu8age should read 160-180. Better yet put water in a metal container and boil it. Guage should read 212. When I installed mine I cut the flexible hose in the cooler line and made a piece for the adapter. Hooked it up and got nothing. Felt really stupid when I realized I had isolated the ground part of the circuit. Ran a wire to ground and it has worked fine since! You might want to verify this. Good Luck!

So, after messing around with the sender, amp box and gauge, I noticed that the ground wire slipped out of the amp box just enough to kill the power. After fixing that problem the gauge worked great!!!

Thanks for the help!

I have the same gauge and had the same problem. I re-read directions andrealised I forgot to hook up pos+ & neg- wires to the control box. Youll need areal small flat blade screw diver and some of your own wire. Hope this helps.
