2 weeks ago had truck in to replace ball joints (warranty) as I had to "leave it for the day ... real busy" I asked to have the transmission filter changed and adjust bands. Well got the truck back later that day, noticed higher temps on transmission with city driving. Normally runs 150 to 170deg F empty, hits 190 to 210 pulling 10k trailer city driving. She was hitting 190 just a few blocks from the dealer, turned around and went back found they had over filled transmission by 1. 5 litres!? Figured it was the problem, but still seeing 190deg F empty. Could be that they got rammy and over did the band adjustments, and can I expect damage to transmission if over tightened?

Temp probe is in line to cooler, same as always... concern is temps were reasonable before having transmission filter changed, now with the overfill incident and band adjustments, temps have increased by 20-30deg F over?

Well, the 190-210 towing 10k in stop and go driving is not unreasonable. Thats what mine runs and has run since I put the gauge in. It will run 190 empty if the ambient temps are up there in the 90's or better and drop towards 150-160 as the temps go down.

What kind of ambient temps are/were you seeing?

Overfilling by that much won't cause over heating by itself. Its acceptable to run a bit overfull as long as you are foaming the fluid and spitting it out the vent. However, a band adjusted too tight could cause the extra heat. Maybe plugged the cooler line a bit at the check ball.
