I dropped my '03 2500 off at the dealer last night because after I had gotten the new tires and wheels replaced from my little mishap from last week, I took it for a ride..... by the time I had gone 8 miles... . the trans was slippy like CRAZY. I no longer had 3rd or 4th gear. After I manually shifted from first to second, I couldn't get third, unless I let off the pedal for 5 or 6 seconds and then lightly pressed the pedal and then feathered the pedal and hoped for third. :--) The dealer has informed me that the transmission has "internal problems" AND has ordered a "NEW TRANSMISSION"for the truck! :{ :{

The trans will probably be in some time after the new year... . sooooo I should be getting my truck back by the second week of January. I guess the trans held up pretty long... seeing how I have 28,000 miles on my truck! :eek: GO figure I guess.

No, I haven't plowed with the truck at all. I have only pulled our 11,500lb. travel trailer to go camping ... ... probably 14 of the 28K miles ... but other than that no other real loads other than an occassional bed full once in a while.

Well, then it sounds to me like either it's low on fluid or you just plain toasted it! That stinks... hope it all comes together for you...

The fluid was full; but when I checked the fluid after the slip and slide drive adventure, the fluid definitely smelled and looked burnt.
