I had the throttle cable recall performed this week. Now my auto has started downshifting eratically. If you let off the throttle, it will downshift at 80mph. Needless to say REDLINE. It downshifts anytime you let off the throttle. With the quality 5 star Stealer closed this weekend, anyone have any suggestions on what to check?

If it only downshifts early from overdrive to drive, I would say it has something to do with the TPS. That's about all I could tell you, maybe someone more experienced will chime in.

The TPS is the most likely suspect. The adjustment is affected by the recall so if they didn't adjust it you may have a problem. You should also check to make sure the kick down cable is adjusted correctly and make sure the spring on the throttle lever on the side of the transmisson is still there. It goes from the lever forward to the case. The first step is to clean the TPS connector with contact cleaner. Obviously they did not do a good road test.

OK, tested the tps. 4. 98 volts in the wire socket, disconnected, key on. All I could ever get was 0. 127 volts attached, orange and black wires with the key on. Am I not getting a good connection or just have a trashed TPS?

Reread the test instructions. If I understand what you are saying you did the test with the TPS disconnected, it should be connected.
