Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Negative Lugs on Engine

I am experiancing two strange issues with my stock 47RE transmission. The only mod on the transmission is a Mag-Hytec Double Deep Pan installed many years ago. Currently under 70K on the truck.

1. After sitting for day's or even weeks, after start up and placing in drive there is no bump forward. I return to neutral and place back to drive and then I get a bump forward. Why the delay? Is it a drained down TC?

2. Newer issue, when I place the truck in drive after being warmed up it bumps forward as normal then immediatly has another bump that applies a lower speed forward based on the idle RPM. Almost like an immediate downshift before the truck has moved. Then when throttle is applied it acts like I have a brake on, like I'm trying to take off in 2nd or 3rd. It drives normal after shifting into 2nd, then 3rd, then OD at 48MPH.

Any help please.

Thanks,

Steve

Update:

I did a transmission service today. Changed the fluid, filter and adjusted the bands. No change. After post service test drive I understand what it's doing.

Placing it in Drive, foot on the brake it kicks into gear (1st) normal, then a split second later it goes into 2nd, foot still on the brake. Accelerating from a stop it leaves in 2nd shifts into 3rd at normal speed then OD at normal speed.

If I manually shift from Drive to 2nd that's normal, then shift it into 1st, it doesn't downshift into 1st. It stays in 2nd.

Any help, ideas would be appreciated. This truck is stock and has less than 75K original on it. Not abused ever.

Thanks,

Steve

My '97 would do this from time to time. At first, I thought it was the tyranny. Mine ended up being the TPS. I would loosen the TPS mounting bolts and clock it ever so slightly and tighten them down. Truck would start in 1st gear again. Not saying this is your problem, but it's a possibility. It could be the pressure solenoid in the transmission!?

Update:

Put the Snap On scanner on it and came up with two codes.

P1762 - Governor Pressure Sensor Offset

P1757 - Govenor - Zero Pressure Malfunction

Anybody have experiance with seeing these codes on a 47RE?

Thanks,

Steve

Replace both the governor pressure solenoid and the transducer at the same time. Several companies make upgraded solenoids, using GM parts. They are much more reliable. I got mine from Suncoast. ATS and others sell them as well. Good luck.

These transmission's don't pump any fluid in park that is why it has a delay after sitting for a while. if after you start it put it in "N" so it will start pumping fluid
