Around 30000 a loud high pitch whine started coming from the transmission area. The dealer confirmed the noise but said they could do nothing because they are not allowed to touch the Aisin. Has anybody had this problem and found a solution?

Find a new dealer who has qualified techs to do the repair, your dealer apparently does not have a qualified tech.

Mine is very quiet. I have heard Aisin only wants their guys working on the transmission not a Ram/Cummins tech where the failure involves opening it up. But, i have only heard that a few times and have no experience personally with the arrangement. So the dealer should still be able to help by either putting in a new transmission or sending it out for Aisin to fix. Depending on where you are an Aisin tech may be sent to the dealership. Keep us posted as i do not hear many issues with this transmission.

Blowing smoke,if you are under warranty the will fix it.It may require autorization from powertrain and a reman replacement.

Dealer said since it was under the power train warranty I would have to drive it till it failed before anything could be done. This all started after I did a 4000 mile tow last fall with my 12000 lb fifth wheel. It seems to be louder when it is cold but never goes away.
