ok i have had my new transmission for 8000miles now. my problem is that when i start off the line if i give it a constant throttle 1/2 or more the transmission will not shift out of second untill i compleatly let off the peddle. i called dtt and ran through a couple of diagnostics. we checked to see if the cable that runs from the peddle to the tranmition was to tight. ( it was in spec) and we also checked to see if the dtt controll modual was putting out the right voltage( it was). bill then told me that i need to contact the person who put in the transmition and have him look at it. ( desert diesel parts,) dtt said they thinks it is the govenor silinoid in the transmition. has anyone here replaced themselfs and is it posible without any special tools? i have a trip to go on next wednesday and i wanted to do all the fluids in the transmition tomorrow anyways. does anyone think it might be something else?

I would live with the foot lift until you can get it to the installer. If you try to change anything yourself it would probably mess up your warranty. DTT has a good reputation of taking care of their customers.

Hmmm

I had my Transmission rebuilt awhile back and it started doing the same thing. In order to get from second to third I have to let up on the throttle and let it granny shift. #@$%! While rebuilding the trans I installed a Suncoast Converter and valve body. The thing shifted like a race car for about 9 months. :D When fuel got out of sight I parked it and drove another car. When I started driving it again is when I started having problems. When it's cold I can't get it to shift out of second unless I wind it way up and let the rpm drop significantly. Also, when it's cold it doesn't like to go into reverse. It'll kind of slip and then go into reverse with a pretty good clunk. Not good ! I'm sure not looking forward to pulling that thing out again. Confusion factor: Sometimes it shifts great ! Doesn't seem to be any pattern.

Replacing the gov. solenoid or sensor is easy. Have to drop the pan, and then drop the valvebody. Solved my second gear starts on my old stock trans.

Is there any test a tech can do to see if the solenoid is NG?? I dropped my CTD off at a local transmission shop & so far they say it's working fine. It's hunting for 3rd & 4th, but not all the time. I looked at the TPS thread & I think it's OK.
