Competition #1 rule for tractor pulling

i'm going to start drag racing is spring ,, just got the transmission done and have the lock up switch . . question is when i'm in the staging lane and getting ready can i flip the lock up switch and power brake it to get boost up and then take off or should i wait till i get the truck moving and down the track then flip the switch ?????

if you have any pointers let me know

You cannot hit lock-up while sitting still in gear, it WILL take off!! That is just like letting the clutch out all the way on a manual transmission truck.

What I do is spool it up(un-locked) to around 20psi while I have the first "pre-stage" bulb lit, then, ease up until the second pre-stage bulb is lit--after launch then you can lock it up

I have tried many different boost levels of launching(all the way to 40-ish psi) and 20psi seems to net me the quickest 60' times and elapsed times.

On edit: I noticed we had alot of similiar mods, my best time to date is a 8. 35 8th mile, with a 1. 78 60' @ 88mph.
