Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Transmission

for the past couple years I have noticed a marked drop in fuel economy to the tune of 2-3 MPG and what feels like sluggishness pulling away from a dead stop. My transmission has also seemed to upshift slowly especially when cold. I was told to change the govenor pressure swith and soleniod and did. It has only been a few days now but the truck shifts much better and seems to pull away from a dead stop much better, like there is no slippage. Should I expect the fuel mileage to return to what it was too?
