I'm looking to add power to my 24 valve. i have a 47re trans. what can i do to make it hold up to the extra torque?

Their are a ton of things you can add to your transmission but I think the bare minimum would be Converter, Valve body, billet pistons in servos and HD band strut along with increased clutch count in F&R clutches. Those things would eliminate any chance of slip then the amount of power you plan to have will be the deciding factor on billet shafts or not. Their are other things also just cant think of them right now but DTT,Goerend,Suncoast and ATS can all sell you a rebuild kit with everything needed to rebuild one right.

How many miles are on the transmission? If it is getting kinda old, then I'd say have it torn down and rebuilt correctly. If it is rather young and taken care of, you might get away with the minimum, a TC and VB. How much to spend and what parts to buy is based on your use and hp goals. My trans builder says a auto really ought to be torn down and "refreshed" every 150K or so regardless of how it is performing or how it is used. You will be truly amazed at the difference a good tight TC can make. When I comes to trans, I believe do it once, do it right.
