I plan on getting a Mag-hytec double deep this spring. cant wait! i have there Diff covers, and they work like champs... ... ... . love them... ...

I installed a Double-Deep Mag-Hytec (along with a rear diff cover) last year and have been very pleased. High quality, easy to install, looks great, and keeps the temps low (according to my gauges). Although, it seems like there is no good (aka: clean) way to swap pans since the transmission never seems to stop dripping... :O)

I went with the PML transmission and differential pans. They have been on my '05 for over 3 years without any leaks or problems. Ed B

The Derale pan is 1/3rd of the price $82 bucks at jegs.com

Derale 14110 - Derale Transmission Cooling Pans - JEGS

Can't beat that price with a stick. 3 extra quarts, drain plug, just like everyone else. Jegs states about 1 qt and Derale's site states 3 quarts. Jegs description must be generic for all of derale. It could be made of stamped steel like the factory pan.

Yet I don't buy their cooling tube BS. It's on my list for that price.

A trans pan that is powder coated like the mag tec is counter intuitive to me. In regards to heat retention.

Someone buy it and check it out. I might just before tow season.

MAG-HYTEK is the only way to go. I have a rear diff cover(has a dipstick to check fluid)along with the DD TRANS PAN. Both also a a 1/8 plus in them to add a sending unit for gauges if you like.

I have the ATS and it really holds the fluid! With my homemade transmission cooler my system now holds 7 gallons and 1 qt. The ATS pan is well made and very strong and does not stick down too far to where you might drag it on a bump. They did their measurements correctly. Also has temp guage probe drilled and tapped already.

I think the price difference of the Derale is more about manufacturing costs with it being stamped steel vs the thick aluminum & coated ones. The thinner material in addition to the tubes would be more functional, just not look as pretty. A pic of the 48re pan can be seen here.
