Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Transmisson Slipping??????????

I have a 1995 Dodge 1 ton with the wonderful slush-omatic , I am having a problem with the RPM's jumping up while traveling down the road around 55 mph and up. At first I thought the transmission was slipping but it does not feel like it is. Could this be the PCM???? I could not find any post to compare my problem to but I have heard of the PCM. If this could possible be the problem how would I check it???? Thanks in advance for any help

The TC might be unlocking. That would look like a steady 200-400 sudden jump in RPM's while driving along whether or not you have a load.



A slipping TC would act more like a slipping clutch in a manual truck--it would start to slip first while you were loaded and going up a hill, especially at lower RPM's, and would get progressively worse over time. It would be the worst at low RPM's and heavy load. If it is the TC slipping that is the more dangerous scenario because little bits of the TC clutch material can burn or flake off and plug up the trans.

check your TPS

Clean it and tighten it down good, if it's not tight and/or clean it can cause 200-300 rpm 'surges'
