Trany growl

Does anybody elses 5spd growl when you put it in 1st and just let out on the clutch and just idle down the road??? mine does this in 1st ans 2nd but it quits when I use the throttle, is this normal or should i be concerned??

Could be the ring and pinion gears. They tend to make noise with the manual gearboxes. For some reason there seems to be just enough load on them with the autos to not make the sound.

Mine is perfectly quiet. If you are worried, check the fluid level. Check your rear tire pressures to be sure they are equal. You might be hearing the rear end as noted above.



Mine only does a growl if taking off in third gear.
