ok guys you helped me before help me again please i got a 02 ctd with a nv4500 just put a new south bend clutch , throw out bearing in last weekend going from 2 to 3 gear she grinds pretty good and then from 3 to 4 its less grinding but the wierd thing is that when i let the engine idle down they both work good im asking cause you cant race anyone with a transmission that grinds also have fast coolers on the nv 4500 if anyone got ideas i would like to hear them thanks chuck

I agree - syncros.

When you go to replace them, I suggest that you NOT go with solid bronze. They do not work nearly as well as the friction from the factory. You will double your shift time, or at least that is what happened with mine. Went from the smooth 5spd shift I was used to, to the hard 6spd type. You have to "take" it out of gear, then "put" it in the next gear, almost like double clutching.

Was it shifting fine before the new clutch?

Did you drain the gear oil and replace it with the proper oil?

Is clutch plate larger or heaver than he original or is it a dual disk?

I agree with above posts but a little info on operation prior to change would help.
