Traveling to the US with a TT

The big Motorcycle event in Sturgis is in August. You'll see a few bikes no matter when you go but they won't be a problem. Those folks are the real riders who are on tour not the folks going to be seen at the Sturgis Rally.

Thanks Jim W Any recommended camp grounds along the way? Say near Des Moines? How about near Rapid City area? For one night stops I don't need power just a spot to park, but greener than a wally world parking lot Shad

Des Moines IA is off of I80 and I35 if I remember correctly there is a KOA in ADEL IA. The sites are not too bad all gravel and level and you cannot hear I80 from the camp ground. The cost is reasonable for a pull thru site with full hook-ups, $37. 15 a night this was in 2011 when we went to Yellowstone WY. IF you stay on I80 you will not find any campgrounds around Chicago worth camping in. The closest I would stay is around LaSalle Peru or Utica IL area; there are a couple of camp grounds there that are off of I80 but you will hear the highway at night. You can then pull straight trough to Columbus IN.
We will see you there in Columbus IN my DW and I will be staying CERAland RV Park. With full hook-ups of course the DW will not camp without them.

Another campground we stayed at once was in Welcome MN off of I90. The campground was called Welcome campground for $28. 50 a night in 08 for pull thru site. The campground was about 500 miles from my house and 500 miles to Hill city SD. This was one of the first times we started pulling a 5er and we tried to do 500 miles a day will that did not last. Now we tow no more than 300 or 350 miles a day. So we did not stay in any campground near Rapid City SD.

With full hook-ups of course the DW will not camp without them. :-laf I hear that a lot, fortunately not from my wife, although if we go too many nights with out power she can't use the microwave which means I do more BBQ ing. I do have 2 solar panels, a 1750 inverter and dual 6 V batteries so I can "dry camp" for a while if the weather is good. Shad
