I am considering a cap for my truck anyone out there have any suggestions? I will also be attending the Mopars at The Strip Car Show at the end of March and will be heading south via Interstate 80 east or 90. Would like to pick up along the way or somewhere in between.

If you look at my pictures, my newest is a GlassTite. I think its made by Leer. . Ive had Snug Tops in the past and regret that I didnt get one on this truck. I just like the fit and finish of Snug Top better. Snug Tops are alot easier to install and take off. I think that they have a better fiberglass quality. They will run you anywhere from $1400. to $1800. Just depends on what you want to have on it as "options". I must say, both Glasstite and Snug Top have a great color match! Snug Top will warranty it not to fade before the truck does. I had a Leer on my 91 White Dodge 4x4 1 ton and it leaked from the day I bought it and the Leer dealer could never find the time to fix it. I hope my Glasstite isnt a leaker. I have owned 4 SnugTops and not one ever leaked. MY Atlantic blue has the Glasstite, My Red 98 has the SnugTop and the Lance :D  :)

i've got a raider cap on mine... looks very similar to the blue glasstite one in above pictures [except for the side windows, mine has a break with painted fiberglass between the fixed portion and the opening part]

Got A Leer

Hi,

I got a Leer and wished I hadn't. I always had Leer's and had no problems. This one leeks like a seive. I originally ordered it in August and didn't fianlly get it until November. They had to order it twice. I ordered numerous options and the first one came in wrong. Going to look around next time. A guy at work has an ARE. Looks real nice. My $0. 02.

I've got a tall ARE and I have had no problems in over two years. I wish it was a little more watertight at the cab, but no big deal.

I've got about 3 weeks on my ARE "Z" series and I love it. Really nice looking, good custruction, quality parts. Was torn between Leer and ARE (SnugTop is way pricey for what you get) and they are comparable for price but, I feel the ARE is slightly better quality and wanted to have something a little bit different than the next guy. Plus the back window only has the latch visable from the outside, non of the buttons where the glass is mounted to the lift springs and such. Makes for a clean looking tail end.

I have a Snugtop XV with windoors. Excellent quality and rear door works great. I don't like the rounded shape of the rear very well but I bought it for function and quality.

I am also in the market for a new fiberglass cap. I've narrowed my decision to the ARE MPulse Cab High and the Jason Pace Series, both with swing-up side doors. The ARE costs $150 more, but might be worth it. I'm going to examine both brands in person on Saturday and then decide.

I bought one of the MX series ARE canopies with the full rear door when I got my truck new. I loved it so much that when I saw one come available used, I bought it for my old truck.

Bought one

After looking around comparing prices and availability, I decided on a Raider cap. It looks nice and hopefully seals out the elements.

Thanks for the input.

I am seriously condering the Raider also. Did you see one in person? What swayed your decision?

Decision

JR. :

I saw one in person on another truck and went to the distributor to look at them. I'm not an expert by any means, but they look sturdy and appear very sporty. I think it'll look good on the truck. Time will tell.

I have the ARE cap And I am HAPPY with it . Basically they are genarally all good I will mention 1 issue on all of them when I went to ARE LEER GLASSTITE as per the salesman BE CAREFUL of the caps with the fancy glass exposed windows on the side especially if you are thinking about purchasing a 3500 DUALLY it was informed to me that the glass will shatter due the heavy duty suspensions on these trucks I purchased mine with with the black aluminum window cills around the window to dampen the impact. also you do not want to shatter these windows they are $300 TO $400 PER SIDE they most expensive part on the cap . I do recommend the drop sliding window it is a option on most of the caps but it is well worth the $110 investment good luck in what ever direction you go in MATT 2004. 5 Silver 3500 dually 4X4 QC with to damm much to list
