I know this one will probably get frowned but there is only group of people in the world who even slightly appreciate what I am about to tell you. Going home through downtown Bismarck from work last night in my '03. I'm on the main drag through town which is a four-lane. This is about 9:30-ish with light traffic. I am in the left lane approaching a traffic light with no vehicles in front of me when a little rice burner comes zipping around me, jumps in my lane and piles on the brakes for the red light. I was like, "Oh, no you didn't just do that... ". So I angled over to the right lane and looked down into this piece of crap and of course there are two nit-wits inside with their hats on sideways, listening to their thumping stereo, and laughing about something as they glance repeatedly up at me. I couldn't let this one slide. I have babied this truck since the day I picked it up but this was unforgiveable. I focused on the light and when I saw green, I buried my foot into the carpet and then some. I swear to you guys I walked that Mitsubishi and took those two cretens to school on that one for about a half a block. Well, I got out of it pretty quick (since I work for the PD) and of course they go screamin' by so they can now go bragging to their buddies that they kicked a 7600 pound diesel Ram's butt... . I know that "street racing" is not what TDR members want to be known for but every once in a while you just have got to put it to them! So, if I have offended anyone by using my Ram on the street in such a fashion, I am sorry. But it was SO much fun! :-laf

Yup, "some times a man's gotta do, what a man's gotta do", quote from the movie, Gunfighters Moon. Maybe we can just blame "Eve" for our temptations! Ha!

We used the light by the McDonald's (McRock and Roll cafe) on 9th and main as a starting point a lot. Then we'd turn around at the Big Boy.

Main st Bismarck-- lotsa memories.

I like the RVers version of the above, where the aggressive owner of a Ford or GM diesel also towing a rig in the same class as mine goes roaring by me with a smug grin on his face out in the flatlands, as a steep grade looms just ahead on the near horizon. My wife at first used to ask if I was gonna let that Ford get by with that, and I reply I'm running the legal limit on cruise control, and that most ANY truck will go decently fast downhill or on the flat - but watch what happens when we hit that grade ahead...

Sure enough, as we work our way up the grade, we reel in the "flatland fast" Ford, and give him a friendly wave as we slide on by, the Dodge still running effortlessly on cruise control...

Man, I *love* these trucks towing in the hills!

And my wife doesn't even bother commenting on the "fast Fords" passing us in the flats any more - she just says, "we'll probably be seeing him again soon... " :D

I had an RV version as well a couple of years ago climbing a 8% grade with the TT in tow, this guy with his chevy mini van, tent trailer in tow,wife,2. 5 kids tailgated me for a while just before the grade, being the "Nice Canadian" that i am i let him pass me just before the start of the 6 mile climb in Field B. C. well as he drove by he gave me the wave and the "is that all that big mighty Cummins has" look----i said to myself "Time to play" :-laf ,i wasn't even looking for it either but he swung first. (he was going to teach me a lesson with Joe subuarban towing rig  )I reached down and turned on the comp to1x1,wouldn't want to embarass him too much. I go flying by him in the passing lane then slow down to the below the speed limit after changing lanes,he finnally catches up and tries to pass me again so i speed up and blow by him again but as i'm passing him i let off the go peddle a few times, slow down, speed up,slow down speed up etc to "Jerk his Chain" :--) ,. He finally got the message that if you want to run with the big dogs you had better have a Cummins, needless to say i only saw him for a few minutes in my rear veiw mirror, never passed me again. :-laf :-laf

At least not the under-fueled ones :p

I know what you mean. I went 8 months without seeing real BLACK smoke. Changed to the Pro-Guard 7 more restrictive filter and things changed overnight.

Left lane only and when the ricers are buzzing around with the music rattling the windows, I bump the HOT Juice up to Level 5. I dont necessarily want to race, just want to keep them right at the 5" tip. I can lay a 12v type smoke trail for at least a block half lugging the engine that way. Shame on the ones with the window down showing off there rap c##p.

I had to go to Pittsfield, Mass. tonight. We did some shoping, and had dinner. On the way home on rt. 20 I was slowing down for a light and in my mirror I saw a red lifted chevy pickup comming hard on my left. When we both stopped at the light I looked over to see 2 Kids with there hats on crooked. I bumped up the juice to extreme, and when the light changed we both launched. The kids got about a half a fender on me then it was all over. I was about five lenghts ahead at 55 when I let off. They went by, but by now there hats were on straight and they waved. My wife asked me when I was going to grow up, I just smiled ;)

Great story Tim!

I have yet to venture into the extreme setting. How is your clutch doing? Thanks

Who needs bombs when your truck will eat em' stock

I ate two ricers the other night. We were lined up three lanes wide at the light, me in the far left. I put it in 4WD, rolled the tach up to 2500, and launched on green. I could see the hat on the kid next to me snap over and watch as this big truck led him by 10 feet off the line and was adding to the lead. I had him by 1-1/2 truck lengths doing 60 in a 45 so I backed out. He caught me doing about 90 but had to stop at the next light. When I pulled up he decided to take a right :-laf

Hills? I was messing with a Civic one night that had an exhaust outlet bigger than mine. We came to a good hill near my house and I let him get next to me and then nailed it. At the top of the hill he was about 10 car lengths back. All he could say at the next light was "Wow dude, that was cool!" :D

This truck is more trouble than my GTO!

It's also fun when KBennett and I are pulling our TTs up hills here in the Rocky Mountains in the right lane passing people in the left lane who thought they were going to blow by us!

"This truck is more trouble than my GTO!"

JEEZE, ain't it the truth! :-laf :-laf

I've said it before, I get the same rapid accelleration sensation from my truck in passing situations as I did with my bombed '85 vette and '98 Camaro SS - the truck isn't a drag racer, what with the slow shifting 6-speed - but from a rolling start from 3rd gear on, hang on and watch out! ;) Oo.
