What kind of boost numbers are expected out of these???

Unfortunately its not as simple as throwing 3 charges on there. Drive pressures will be a major concern with a triple setup, as well as twins for that matter. Lets see if this thing works efficeintly.

BTW, They'll see 120+psi easy with triples... . properly setup, of course.

If you take a look at it, the triples are not sequential. It looks like each HY is feeding 3 cylinders, and the HX-60 will be feeding the two HYs. So really you have a twin charger setup on a 3 cylinder times 2.



In this setup the HYs are too large, and the HX-60 would be too small. The HYs flow around 880 CFM and the HX60 flows 942 cfm (1885 cfm divided by 2 turbos), essentially there will be no compounding effect.



But heck it looks good.



Tripleloc converters must be selling.



If you want to read some good information of turbochargers, pickup the book by Hugh MacInnes, its title is Turbochargers.

I wish they would do an update on the "Tractor Pulling" chapter of that book.



As for twin HY's, their is a compounding effect, after they flow through the HY's they are compounded into the HX60. I would have used a different BIG turbo with this theory, but what do I know, I'm just a college student!

(48 deg F Air at intake) Conversion factor 1243 cfm is equivalent to, mass flow of 88lbm/min.

0. 93kg/sec=1734cfm HX60W

Sounds like gibberish to me, Don can you translate?



Its great that you can convert from CFM to lb/min to kg/sec, what compressor efficiency are you using to calculate your mass air flow?



I'm not disputing your conversion rates, just tell me what you think each turbo will flow, and how much boost you want to run and I'll tell you that there is no way.



You just can't design turbo chargers from parts lying around your shop. What was your first system an HX40 and a H2E, heck they almost flow the same. I probably saved you money, hopefully you can pull the engine back out of the truck without spending too much time on it.

Andrew there will no doubt be a compounding effect due to the design part the problem lies in airflow. Either they'll surge like crazy or the HX-60 will choke.

I was talking about if we would do this, we would include a blow-off valve.

Actually there is a point to this if you have the fuel, you'll need more air, and if you look at a truck at present moment in Canada with Cali tags, the more air, the better.

Quad was done last year by Mike Moran of Dearborn Heights Mich. in his Casper car.
