While working on my torque converter lockup issue this past week, I continue to see the P0622 code being set. The service manual lists it as "An open or shorted condition detected in the generator field control circuit".
I had originally dismissed it to the fact that my batteries are going weak and that after a startup where the grid heaters have fired, it would take some time for the generator to charge them up. A couple times this would set the "Check gauges" lamp. Now that it is warming up, the grid is not cycling yet this code continues to be set. I clear it and it returns.
From what I can see in the schematic, the PCM is driving the generator field. Is this simply a generator beginning to fail? This may explain the need for the 18-02-99 reflash I did yesterday to fix the torque converter unlocking problem. That tsb seems to have been written due to noise from the generator getting onto the APPS signal.
Any theories are appreciated,
icarus
