I have NV4500 tyranny in my 3500 and this week I was pulling a trailer about 6000# and when I tried to down shift I had trouble getting it out of gear the stick would move ,but it wouldn't move the gear. When I got the trailer off it worked good, anybody got any ideal what is wrong with it,before I start pulling it out.

I had that happen to me a couple of times. It would get stuck in 5th gear and sometimes if I wiggled the shift lever back ad forth it would come out. The next time that happened I got a little carried away and got it overlapped in the wrong notch on top of the shifter cover. Then I could't move it at all. To fix it you have to pull the rubber boot off and pull the shift cover and reposition the forks. It is pretty simple to do. I think mine was worn from going from 4th to 5th so it looked rounded off. It probably would've happened again but a couple of months later I broke 3rd gear and just switched to a 6spd so I don't know what parts you will have to replace. Hopefully this is all that happened because the other possibility is the 5th gear nut fell off. That you will have to fix by pulling it out. Good luck... Jim

Thanks, I pulled the transmission out and pulled the tail cover off and found a spring laying in the bottom of the cover that came out of one of the second gear from the rear. I am going to pull the gear and see how bad it is worn.
