I have been having an interminent problem with my driver side door power locks. It started happening aprox 1 year ago and was very intermintent but has been happening more frequently recently. When I hit the remote un-lock the mechanism appears to be sticking. It takes 3 or 4 pressed of the unlock button to get the door unlocked. It does not do it (at least that I have noticed when I use the button on the door itself, only with the remote).

The passenger side door works fine and it does not do it when I hit the lock button. It locks on the first try everytime, only has a problem on un-lock.

It seems like it is just sticking or binding up somewhere as opposed to an electircal problem. Each time I hit the button I can hear the mechanism work and the door lock "plunger" on the door moves, but not far enough to unlock the door.

Is there anything in the door that could be binding or would need to have some lube applied to it? Or is there anything else to be done short of replacing the mechanism?

Thanks in advance,

I had this on my passengers door( it was my fault!) when the panel is removed and re-installed the rod the lock button is on can bend and bind easily. Try locking/unlocking by hand and "jiggle" the knob ,compare to pass. side. my $. 02.

well this morning I worked the lock button up and down manually and there was alot of grinding/binding feeling in the movement. Look like I wil have to take the door panel off and tale a look see. May be a good time to upgrade my speakers too:-laf

Your electronics are probably getting weak. Temporary adjustment won't last long. Just replaced mine... not cheap $101. 60 + ship.

thank you. Was the install pretty straight forward? I have factory shop manuals and am not scared to tackle stuff. Was there anything else that looked like it needed attention when you had the panel off?

Thanks

The door panel retainers break frequently when removed. You may want to have some on hand just in case. They are a lot cheaper from body shop supply outlets, NAPA, etc. rather than OEM. Reseal vapor barrier with good duct tape. Make sure you order the door latch with power. Getting the door panel retainers to release is the hardest part.
