I got a new axle cover for my 2008 ram 2500 4x4. My front axle is (AA 14 9. 25). I got the cover from Mag-Hytec. They say that it fits on 90% of all Dodge trucks with my axle. I put it on and it fit or at least I thought but now when I go over a small bump it hits a bar of the front linkage, on the front right of the cover. I wrote the company and they just say to grind off 1/8 of a inch on the cover and of the bar on the truck. I just don't know if I should do that. I don't think the cover is very thick and I worry it will affect the bar on my front linkage. The bar is quite thick on the linkage, so maybe it won't weaken it. I will put a picture of the cover so you can see where it is hitting. My question is, should I grind some steel off my linkage bar like Mag-hytec advised or is anyone aware of another way to modify this?

That area of the cover is a corner so it will be as thick on the corner as the rise of the side. . and a little grind on a linkage will not hurt the strength of the bar... . after second look, are you sure it is hitting the bar?... Looks like it might be hitting on the bracket for the bar... . you can modify that more with no problem

I had a similar problem with the cover on my 04. Called MagHytec - they had me send it back and they ground a little off the cover and it fit fine. Do it your self or have them do it and keep your "warranty" in effect.

Do you guys think the Kore's track bar would be a better part to put on instant of the 2" leveling spacer? They both say they rise the front end.

The leveling kits look good and make it a lot easier to slide under the truck on a creeper without knocking your hat off. I just installed the level kit on my new to me 07 Mega dually with 3/4 of the bed I wanted. I have had the level kit on 4 of these trucks, it's a must in my book. I like the Rancho kit with the longer lower arms so you don't have to have it aligned at a shop after your done. I will now install my front Mag Hytec very soon.
