help with 03 receiver after accident

Power Vision Mirrors

I ordered a new Dodge 3500, dually, 4x4, 48RE, and also a new Wilderness Advantage AX6. I will have installed a Pull-Rite Super 5th Hitch with superrails.



I am very concerned that the truck will be too high to keep the 5er level.

The AX6 has one adjustment on the pin height.



Does anyone have this combination or have knowledge as to whether I can get a level match?



I hate to flip axels unless I have to.

Your options are pretty limited. To maintain comfortable bed rail to trailer clearance you have two choices. Lower the truck or raise the trailer. You might look at using the tall equalizer that Dexter makes. Assuming of course that it is a Dexter axle setup. Some have lowered the back of the truck by using thinner blocks between the axle tube and springs. You might also consider larger tires/wheels if they will fit the hubs and you have sufficient clearance between the tires of the front and back axles.

I raised my trailer the following way:



I took it to a welding shop (this was before I learned how to weld). The welder cut the perches of the suspension from the frame, welded a piece of 3"x3" steel tubing to the frame on each side where the suspension was, and then welded the suspension back to that. It fixed my problems, and the trailer handled better as I didn't have to change the geometry of the axles and springs, but made it ride more level. The only word of caution is the slight rise in the center of gravity, but I don't take corners fast when towing :D

I had the same problem when I got my '01 3500 4x4. I put the springs on top and hated it. The trailer (32')was level and cleared the truck, but looked silly.



I talked to the manufacturer (Crossroads) and they suggested something they called "Jake Plates" . They are plates welded to the frame from the front spring shackle to the rear, providing three attachment heights 2" apart at each point of attachment. I had them put on (~$600) and adjusted the trailer height to my satisfaction with the springs under the axle.

The Jake Plates are a nice "clean" way to go if you want to pay that much. I sometimes wish this is what I did, however what I did do works really well. No problems whatsoever:)

I am sprung over on 5er and I always tow with water tank full so I have lower center of gravity and I have never noticed a problem not even in wind.

I did just add 2" leveling kit to front of truck to lower back corners of p. u. bed and truck still has miner slope towards front and with 5er on and 1900lb pin wt. It levels out truck nice and I no longer punch holes in bottom of 5er wiuth my p. u. bed rails
