Well, took it on another test drive today after putting on my Ranch Hand front bumper and just had to run it down the road to make sure everythings alright.

For those of you that don't know, I bought this truck a few months ago with 210K on the clock and imediately started tearing it down to get the head shaved, valve job done, new 60# springs installed, new 370 injectors, #10 plate, guages, 4K GSK, and some other goodies..... PDRHX40, 4" exhaust, Scotty II, and a Southbend clutch is heading this way as extra money comes in.

Other things done is . 020 marine gasket, new headbolts, new hoses, and thermostat.

Well... . to the point, the governor springs are set at . 041 & . 046 The dang thing won't rev to but 3,000... . then it acts like it is defueling. Can anyone give me a starting place to look?\

I appreciate any help,

JD

I think that most people on here will agree that trying to get an accurate measurement of the springs is almost impossible and a waste of time. The best way to set them is by feel. About 2-3 clicks down seems to work well for most people. I would try setting the springs by this method and see if you get the results your looking for.

Have you checked your fuel pressure? Possibly a bad overflow valve or lift pump not supplying enough fuel?

Bill

No, I haven't checked the fuel pressure, but I just installed a new overflow valve. It has a new fuel filter and the fuel screen on the fuel heater is clean.

I will try going back and back off the nut on the governor springs and go 2 clicks down and see what that does.

Appreciate the help,

JD
