Insurance for 5er

Airbag pressures

I know you are looking for a temp solution and really there is not one if the law says no 2 trailers... The best is the second car towing a light trailer the 50 miles to your place...

I have a 36' Keystone toyhauler trailer. It has 2 slides, 3 axles and tows like a dream. It has a 12' x 8' garage that holds 2 quads side by side, has the separate wall so you can use the trailer on longer trips with the quads inside... . There are 3 or 4 models of the 5th wheel including a 3 slide mode like mine but the kitchen side slides out and makes an "L" counter for the kitchen.

I pull the 2 trailer setup here in Calif.

There is no way to get legal unless I get a full commercial License with a doubles endorsement.

I thought I would just tow it and play dumb if I ever get stopped.

Then my cop buddy told me that any Insurance company could decline any claim I have because I am towing out of classification.

You just know if an insurance company can get out of paying a cliam they will find any loophole.

Now I am on the hunt for a 30ft 5th wheel toybox so I don't loose my house in a judgement trying to save 15 grand on buying another trailer.

Only in California :{

Very good point. I have the same problem.

I like that toy hauler the other guy posted pictures of. That's one that I may be able to sell my wife on. She hates toyhaulers because they aren't girly enough.

Girly enough? Well, comfortable and stylish I think...

I have 2 ac's, a 30k BTU furnace, a nice kitchen, good size corner shower and qween size bed.

You poor 5th wheel guys. Camper guys know were it's at. I still get 16mpg if I keep my foot out of it with out the trailer.

How do you stick a boat, jet skis, or a truck in the toy hauler?

Have you looked at something like JOEhauler.com Put a hitch on the front of your truck and place one quad up there and another off the back of your 5th wheel.

The 5th I bought was mainly for the comfor of my elderly parents who still love to go to the desert and ride a quad!! We even take our 2 dogs on the quad when we go on rides. I am thinking of getting the Arctic Cat Prowler for them to ride in even better comfort. Right now they ride the Polaris sportsman 500

I get 10-11 MPG towing figuring by hand and this is 15K fully loaded. I have a manual, jake, 19. 5" rims and "F" rated tires to handle it.

Tim,

I have learned some lessons on RV buying. Since you live in alabama, in the summer the heat is pretty bad I bet. My trailer came with 1 ... 15K BTU ducted A/C and a 30K BTU Furnace.

One problem I found out was the floor of the up-stairs is not insulated but the bottom of the storage is so I lined the floor with R-10 faom and then my trailer had it pre-wired for a second A/C over the bedroom so I bought that and installed it. I have a 5000 KW gen and it is able to run both on low and that does the trick when out in the boonies.

Another thing is to make sure the tires are rated for the GVW of the trailer... Eg. my trailer has 6 tires and the GVW of the trailer is 15k ... and the total of all 6 tires are rated for 15,500 so that is good.

Some trailers have 4 tires and they are "E" and 16" and others are "D" and 15"... Stay away from those with 4, "D" tires... ... ... . I found a "E" 15" I am going to put on the trailer next year.

No joke, hand calculated on a 2 week trip through south western Canada from San Diego with the stock BFGs. The 315's are a new addition. We went with another couple and traded off driving between the guys. My buddy dropped to around 13-14 mpg and I could get a constant 16. I'm one of the few that can get an honest 20mpg regularly on the freeway too. You have to stay out of the throttle and think when you drive. Use the downhills to get momentum, and not expect to climb the other side at the same pace. Slow take offs and generally drive like a grandpa. ;) It works!

So yeh I guess your kind of right, I do use the down hill.
