Hi guys, woke up this morning and looked out in the driveway to see the right rear quad window gone and glass everywhere on the ground:mad: It looks like the only things gone are a cordless drill and my radar detector, but I am still waiting for the police to look at it before I touch anything.

To my point, what alarm are you using? Good, bad, all points considered. If installing an alarm I will want keyless entry as part of it. I can install it myself, but would like to keep the install time down to 1 day or less. Thanks for your suggestions.

My 'ol 99 Ram CTD was broken into twice, and the 2nd time was the day I got it back from the bodyshop! The feeling sucks, huh!

I bought Ungo alarms for both my vehicles. I really like them and they do have a keyless feature built in (but I chose not to use it). I though about installing them too, but for less than $20 bucks for an install fee it wasn't worth my time to waste a weekend when both vehicles were done in the same day.

Lsmith-I Feel For You !

I DESPISE a thief or burglar. It infuriates me to have some LowLife think he can help himself to something I worked and paid for. I may be radical, but will always believe Shooting them will cure the problem. ;) ;) ;)

I feel you pain. I use a Viper it works great has all the bells and whistles door lock and a ignition kill and a nusence device that is for if your in a area that has a lot of vibratation going on like road work that keeps setting it of it will only do it a few time and the shuts that feature off. But still will work when the door open or what ever you have it set up to do. :)

Hmmm... the liberal anti-gun civil rights people would have a field day with THAT one!

How about chopping off the thiefs right hand?

MAYBE they'd think twice about thieving again

before they lost their OTHER hand.

This is done in some parts of the world, and there is very little thieving done there.

Course, in THIS country, you'd be violating someone's civil rights to prey on other members of society.

Remington 870 Express Magnum 12 gauge - 00 buckshot! It's still legal in Texas to protect your life, your family's lives or your property. If they're in my driveway, they're fair game!

Seriously, we had a Viper on our 1996 3500 - it's still working fine for the new owner. ;)

It also cuts down on the number of repeat offenders.

Sorry to hear about your truck LSMITH... I also have the Viper. It's been in the truck since brand new... no problems yet!

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, Smitty... . Check out www.avital.com I had their AviStart Remote start/keyless entry/alarm on my 98 Ram, I loved it. Very affordable. Circuit City offers the Viper brand, I think...

1 shot with my . 338 win mag, thats all i ask about the jacka$$ that broke into my truck and in the process did 2k worth of damage. tell you what, to be sporting, i'd even give him a 500 yard head start;)

If we could punish these punks correctly, we would see a lot less of this, but like the cops even told me when i filed the report, even if they get caught, they usually only get a little slap on the hand, juvenile punks:mad:

OOOPS

got so worked up, i forgot the original question (been 8months, and i still want to beat the heck out of somone)

Any way if you want the system to use your keyless remotes, what about the dodge evs2 system??, i thought about it for a while after mine got hit, now i just try to park in well lit high traffic areas at work. might still look in to the alarm, but not sure if it would work anyhow if they really want the thing.

You can install the Chrysler EVS II Keyless entry/security system from dealer parts, but plan on spending $250. If you don't have elec door locks already installed, it may be a little more... ;)

Alarms

I have a viper on my 94. It came with the truck. It makes noise or not, can't start the truch if not unlocked by alarm. Still works for me. I think the new ones have remote start and other whistles. They have a web site to give you all the details and locations.

Viper seems to be popular here.

Major bummer Howard. . Let me know what you decide to put on your truck, because I'm interested in doing the same to mine.

Speaking of getting robbed, many moons ago, me and a couple of friends took my buddie's car up to Rickies on State in Milwaukee. It was the middle of winter, and after we left this excellent establishment, we discovered that someone had broken out the passenger window in the car and removed a boom-box worth about $10 from the back seat. What a PITA that was, driving home with the floormat jammed in the top of the door trying to keep the cold air out(didn't work). :( At least we didn't have to worry about the driver falling asleep at the wheel.

I use the barking dog alarm system, followed by 12 gauge birdshot, then the buckshot. Birdshot seems to slow them down so you don't hit your truck with the big stuff.

Not much you can do anyway, the alarm goes off and if they are kids, they know you won't do anything. You might be the one that ends up with the wounds these days.

Thanks all for the kind words and suggestions on the alarms. I am getting an alarm as soon as the research is done, John maybe we will tag team the install.

Blu-meanie, you don't know me do you :D I would have no shame in beating a 14-18 year old kid down bad! If you are big enough to try to take another mans things you had better be prepared to face his wrath when he catches you, even if just a kid.

Through the years I have had experience with many different brands of alarm systems. One point I would like to stress is that the quality of the installation is almost more important than the brand of alarm you choose.

I will agree that the Viper alarms are excellent units. They are made by DEI and I have had good luck with all of their models. I also think Alpine makes a very nice alarm system, and Code Alarm (they produce the factory alarms) are a good choice as well.

My advice is to find a shop that has very qualified installers. This will usually be at a high end specialty car audio shop.

Good luck with the alarm search, and I hope them #@%holes don't get you again.

I bought a Clifford alarm before the company changed hands (AvantGuard). I don't know if it's still offered. There are a number of options that I like about the alarm, but I think the best one is the proximity alarm. It lets you know when some one is looking real hard at your truck, like in the window. Radar. If I had to choose again, I would find one with this feature.
