Truck cab gun drawer?

My permit is for a CONCEALED weapon... Soo, guess how I carry it? Right hip, no holster, butt about 15 degrees forward, Colt Combat Commander, . 45 ACP, Long trigger, burr hammer, flat mainspring housing, cocked-and-locked, fits like a glove. ("Excuse me sir, did you know the hammer was cocked on your pistol?" "Yes, I know. " "Isn't that dangerous?" "You betchera$$ it is!") Had to draw it 3 times in 22 years. No rounds expended, pray it never happens. Muscle memory, consistency, front sight, front sight, front sight!!! oh yeah, s-q-u-e-e-z-e the trigger. Put a high quality alarm in the truck, with a disable switch if it's stolen. Keep the doors locked and the windows up. And keep your weapon on your person.

Again, there will/may be times/places that I cannot or chose not to carry. In those cases I want secure storage IN MY TRUCK.

Detroit Iron... . lets go for a run, jump a fence, crawl for a minute and then if you still have your pistol..... we can defend ourselves and/or a loved ones life. Not a good idea to shove a pistol in your wasteband. BTW, you squeeze a lemon and press the trigger... . just razzin' ya. It's true though. It is physically impossible to squeeze an object with one finger, except for maybe a pencil. It takes the hand or other fingers to do this. You can press the trigger though.



Diesel Gunner, funny you should bring it up. I am planning on getting my Combat handgun master. Money is the issue.

You are right. for the rare occasion that you can't or don't want to take your gear with you... the locker would be a good idea.

I looked at that storage box from Geno's for the same reason. Unfortunately, it says it does not fit with power seats.

Geno's ad says it doesn't fit under the drivers power seat. What's the obstruction on the driver's seat?

I've got a Masterac box under my drivers seat so when I'm at work I can lock it up, they frown on bringing it in the building.

Otherwise I prefer a crossdraw setup, easy to access from a sitting position without drawing attention to what you're doing, sitting or standing. You might try Tuffy for a lock box.

No the Geno's drawer will NOT fit in a 2nd Gen w/ the power seats. I got a V-Line safe

(i think its a 3912) and bolted its top bracket to a steel angle iron crosspiece that i bolted to existing seat frame holes. It's pretty bomb-proof, opens w/ push-buttons that are way easy to do even in a flustered adrenaline moment. Very similar to the Aegis safe. I keep a 1911 w/ Crimson Trace in there, cocked & locked, @ all times.

I do this. I have a little Beretta Tomcat with a pocket holster that will fit comfortably into my jeans pocket. When I'm in the truck on long drives I will stick it down between the drivers seat and console - it is in the pocket holster there, so there is no danger of cutting the seats or getting oil on them.



My wife bought me one of the Aegis combination lock boxes, but I can't figure out where to put it in my 03 Quad cab Ram. The best I can do is under the center console, but I'm not happy with it there. I want it handy, yet out of sight. No place to mount anything in these trucks. I want the lock box for parking where I can't carry the gun, or when in states my concealed carry permit does not work. Has anyone found a good place to mount one of these boxes?

I placed an order for the box from Geno's a couple of days ago.

I should have it by the 2nd.

I also ordered for temp. gun storage.

When I pick my kids up from school I have to leave it in the truck.

So I want it locked up.

If you can wait a couple of days I will let you know how it is.

Man, I don't know how so many of you carry 1911's concealed on a regular basis. I used to carry my P229 and that was too big, IMO. I bought a Taurus PT140 and never looked back. Fits right in the front of my waist band while driving quite comfortably. Normally I would just leave it at home if I was heading for an airport or courthouse where CCW is not allowed, or if it's a momentary stop, just stuff it in between the seats for a few minutes, but I like the idea of some of these lockers. That spring loaded idea seems cool for the long drives! It's too bad I have to leave my gun home (or broke down and locked up in the back) for cross-country trips because most states do not have reciprocity with CA for CCW... I wonder if there's a way around that using one of these lockable boxes...

Each state is different. I live in Pa and have a CCL and I can go to a lot of states, but none of them next to Pa. Ohio just got CC, but will not recognize Pa yet. NY has them, but won't recognize anyone else.



NY and Maryland are bad states to go through with a pistol - even if it's locked up somewhere. I grew up in Ohio and it's not bad as long as you have it in plain site and unloaded with the ammo in the back or out of reach somewhere.



Look up the NRA site and they have all the gun laws and concealed carry laws of each state.



Stay in the Carry states and out of the Kerry states!!

I just got a valuables vault from the local sporting goods shop.

It was $30. 00 and is built pretty good.

It's a little too big for under the passenger's seat, so I'll put it under the rear seat. 1. 8 gauge steel, dead bolt, foam padded inside. Sorry, I dont have the exact measurements, but it's big enough to hold several handguns & ammo.
