truck cap wiring

yesterday I ordered a new cap for the pickup and had a question about wiring. I would like to wire the interior lights of the cap to the interior lights of the truck.



Does anybody have any pointers on where a good place to splice into the wiring would be?

You mean you want the cap light to come on with your dome lights?

Yep, I want the lights to come on when the doors open and when I turn on the dome lights with the light switch.

Check out my post on tapping into the rear cargo light. I like mine that way so when I have a lot to unload I just turn on the cargo light switch and the light in the cap stays on without having to turn on all the interior lights. Cap light will also come on when you hit unlock on your key fob.

thanks for the insite on how you did your wiring. I thought about connecting to the cargo lamp but I find the "dinger noise" for the cargo light fairly annoying.

It only dings if you leave the driver's door open. So has never been an issue for me. I haven't looked at the wire colors posted on that thread in a long while, did it list the wire color for the interior lights? I would think they run up the A-piller also. Good luck.
