Hi guys,

Been awhile since I have posted due to a move and new job, have missed it.

I would appreciate any help/advice on a problem I'm having with my 2002 HO 6spd.

While cruising the power seems to cut out for a second or two causing the truck to feel like I'm pushing and letting off on the throttle. My wife actually thought that is what I was doing. It isn't noticeable while accelerating but very noticeable while cruising in 3rd, 4th gear. It is worse in the morning while it's cold but still does it in the afternoon when it's warmer. Truck only has 30,000 miles on it. Checked the fuel pressure today and it was around 12psi while cruising and around 5psi at WOT. Still on the stock lift pump. Codes show P PCU 1693 & P ECU 0216.

Any idea's on what to look at?

Also, is the lift pump and injection pump covered on the Cummins 7 year 100,000 warranty?

Thanks a million,

Ray

Your dealer will see the 216 code and know what to do; free of charge. Your 5 yr warrenty is good on engine components including the vp44 that the 216 code indicates.

Well, they changed the lift pump to the in tank version and said that would fix the problem and I would have it back today. Got a call that after the new lift pump was installed there was a check engine light during the test drive and now they are going to replace the vp44. Funny there was no check engine light when I brought it in.

Thanks,

My truck is showing the po216 code, does this also mean I could have a bad lift pump? Also what can you tell me about the in tank lift pump? does this replace the stock engine mounted pump? Gregg

For sure your VP-44 is dead. Your LP may be dead too, odds are yes but GET A FP guage!

Sorry th hear your loss, I got through mine!
