Archived Truck dead electrical issue

2004 3500 130K miles Auto Trans

I went to the grocery store and it ran fine. It has been taking a little longer to start first time for the day, other than that fine.

When I came out the red security alarm light flashes all the time. Doors will not unlock Sometimes when I turn the key various dash lights will flash, sometimes not.

I disconnected the batteries and measured with a volt meter. 12.6V out of each one. Batteries are new Interstates this spring.

I disconnected the batteries bu removing the negative cable from both batteries.
When I put the cable on the right battery the light under the hood comes on normal then goes dim. I remove that cable and everything goes out. I then put the right cable on and I
do not see the light come on at all.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try with disconnect the viscousdrive Fan connector, I heard that this thingi can make a lot of trouble.

If not helps, reconnect it.

Check also all ground wires, from both batteryz, would be the first to check.

Check voltage with the batteries connected. Voltmeter does not put any load on them, 12.6 naked, might be 4v with a simple hood light trying lo light up.

OK - I got it going. It seems that the folks that put in the batteries over the Sumner didn't tighten things up very well. I cleaned grounds, terminals and posts and we are hope to go.
