Driving home from work my truck died. . RPMs dropped, hit 0, and it wouldnt restart. Only code is 1693 which has been there for a while. My FASS doesnt sound like its kicking on any more, what are the chances its the FASS or the fuse and not the VP44?

Does the FASS use the original lift pump wiring? If so it's wired directly to the ECU - might still be fused after that. Read my post in 911 archive. Short story: bad ECU. Also do a search on how to jump the VP44 - power and ground to pins 6 and 7 (not sure which order!) will allow start and idle.

Good luck!

I checked all connections and all power to the FASS, and it now kicks on when I go attempt to start the truck. I'm waiting on new filters to come in so I can swap those out. I pulled the codes and only get a P0237 (MAP Sensor Voltage too low) along with the companion code. I am going to check all the connections to the Edge Comp, disconnect them and put the stock ones back and hopefully it will work. It sucks being without my truck.

Any other ideas?

Now if your truck died going down the road... . (didnt catch that before) the FASS might not start back up with out waiting for about 2-5 mins. I dont know why this feature is in the ECM, maybe an accident safety thing..... but that might have been why you didn’t get fuel pressure right off when the truck died

I prolly should have said this earlier... but it never re-started. It wont turn over. I had to towed to my house hoping it was sommething simple... but its turning out to be a pain in the *****...

Man... if it wont turn over and died going down the road... . i would start lookin at the Alt and Batts then... ... . that would cause a prob like you described.....

Checked the Batteries. . they are good. It wants to start. . just seems like its not getting the fuel it needs to completly start. I'm going to crack the injector lines when I get home today and attempt to start it. . I want to see if it sprays out or dribbles out of the line when I try to start it. I have a really bad feeling its a mechanical failure in the VP44.

My $0. 02 is you should try cracking the injectors. Driving to work on Monday my truck lost power, then died, wouldn't restart. It was below zero outside. I drained my fuel seperator (WIF sensor wire broken) tried again - nothing - cracked the three injectors I could manage to undo - tried again, it STARTED. Dunno if it just warmed up through heat soak or it was low pressure/air/water/gelling fuel, but it's been fine since.
