i have a 95 with 230,000 miles on it, recently it started dying after startup, but only if it sat for a day or so. If I pulled the fuel filter it would be half empty. I could fill the filter put it back on and it would start. After talking to a few people I decided to try chaqing the fuel pump. I changed the pump, cleaned the srceen of the pre filter, changed the fuel filter and changed the rubber fuel line to the pump and the return line from the injector pump as long as I was having so much fun. I got it running and then let it sit for a few days then it started anran fine, I thought problem solved. The other day I started it to go to work and it did the same thing. This time i was able to prime it with the primer button and it has been starting and running ever since, but I have a feeling it will happen again. Has this happened to anyone else if it has what are some possible cures. Any info would be helpful. Thanks Snoey

when this happens to you get any air bubbles at the bleed screw when you prime it with the push button on the lift pump?

I had a couple of vws diesels do the same thing, I talked to a old german diesel mechanic and he told me to go get a can of Diesel Purge, this cleaner is used in Mercedes Benz dealerships, its made to clean the pump and injectors, you actually run it straight off the can until it empty! it cured the problem on both of my cars, he said that the pump sometimes gets a valve stuck and will do this if it sits very long? try it , its cheap! and worked for me!
