Ok, My truck just recently started doing this surging thing, and at 1 point I lost my tach. Stopped the truck started it again and everything worked fine, for a while. Now on several occasions I've had the truck just die on me, The first time, I was just sitting idling, the second time was moving slowly and now the third time was moving at about 25mph, and then again at a stop sign. Also I had the truck completely lose power, but not die at about 50mph. I really need to figure this out. I'm throwing a P1693 code, so I'll go get it checked and see what it really is.
Here is the scoop on the truck. I picked it up with 80K and it is a Year 2000. I immediately installed an Edge, but didn't tap the pump wire. At 95k I tapped the pump wire and installed RV275's, Replaced stock lift pump with a FASS at 97K because I was able to drop to about 4psi at WOT. Ran the FASS with out any issues until about 104K then started having trouble starting when hot. Installed an oil pressure switch in accordance to what FASS suggests if you encounter this problem, I used the part#'s they supplied and everything. Then last weekend this started happening. Seems like a Dead VP to me, is there something else that it might be, something that perhaps doesn't cost an arm and a leg, or is the VP the most likely part.
Thanks for the help in advance guys. Sean
