Why does the 1995 2500 4x4 diesel have more beef at the diff's such as the dana 80 rear and the dana 60 front, where as the 2004. 5 3500 diesel has a 14 bolt rear and a 9. 25 front?. Were the 1995 trucks overbuilt or are the new 2004 trucks underbuilt.

I had a '99 PSD, now have a '03 CTD. I can definitely feel more torque at the wheels with the new AA's. Not sure why, exactly, less slop maybe.

What makes you think the AA 9. 25 isn't as strong as the Dana 60 or that the AA 11. 50 isn't as strong as a Dana 80?

From the specs I looked at they were about the same with a slight edge for the new AA units.

I agree. Can you cite something that indicated to you the AAM axles are weaker?

They did a comparo of the AAM 11. 5 and the Dana 80 in a 4 wheel mag I got and they were very similar, but the aam had more beef.

The 9. 25 has a higher weight rating than the 95 dana 60 and the same as the late 2nd gens (like 2001+) The 94-98 are 4850 IIRC and the 9. 25 is 5200 IIRC.

yeah, "geek speak" is kinda confusing at first, but eventually you'll be assymilated, and you'll be able to read it like it's plain english... even stuff you've never come across, you'll read it in context and understand it like it's the actual words...
