My Parents have their 2006 in the shop it smokes horribly every time it starts up in the morning. Cold or warm weather and then it quits after about 4-5 minutes at idle.

We have taken it in 3 times, 1st they said they needed to re-flash the chip now they are saying its two bad injectors?? Now we are in holding waiting for Crysler to aprove the Injector parts? So they can see if the two injectors correct the issue.

I would thought the oil burning would be due to rings or something?

5k miles on it total on this truck!! This is the 2nd oil change at 2700 miles of run time and it has burned a quart and a half of oil??

My parents are so disgusted they are now at dealership looking at a new 2007 and they are being told even though factory says it has to burn the low sulfur fuel, they can still burn any of the available diesel fuel on the market???? Even though some gas pumps state on them they won’t work on 2007

They need to check into the lemon law. How many days has Dodge had the truck ?? Makesure they document the whole process. I didn't think you could buy hi sulfer fuel for on road use??

Thank you! Unfortunatly they are past the Nevada State Regs for Lemon Law.

It's my mom's truck. She ended up buying 2007 3500 larami ? not sure spelling. . They Sign papers tomorrow.

They live in Rural Nevada and it states on the pumps spacificly gas not for 2007 vehichles?? I know there is alot of farming but I would think a gas Shell Gas pump would be providing the correct juice. It's a federal law.

I wouldn't use the 500 ppm sulfur diesel in the 2007. Dodge mite not honor warranty. Check around to see if one of the stations has got the 15 ppm (ULSD) in their area.

In issue 54 (TDR) page 51; " Non ULSD fuel may still be sold at retail locations outside of California until December 2010. "

The manual in the '07's states that it is safe to use the LSD but that they recommend the ULSD. I ocassionaly travel to Baja and must run Pemex which could certainly be rated as"beyond low".

Also, don't forget that it's still running the 5. 9L without the particulate filter most likely. If that's the case, running either fuel will be fine.

Well, All said and done it apeared to be 3 bad ejectors. The Cummins rep said this occasionally happens " it puts diesel oil into the oil?" therefore causing it to burn oil? He stated it's only happens with the new high pressure common rail systems.
