The last few days I've been hearing a funny squeeking noise when I'm into the throttle a bit (over 20psi). Well last night on my way home from work it got really bad, and I was loosing power. I went straight to a friends shop and we ended up buying some pipe fittings to plug the intercooler piping, a regulator and tapped a quick-coupler on it to pressurize the system. Once we hit 10psi we found the intercooler cracked at the tank on the passenger side! We pulled the intercooler for a better look and found 5 or 6 of the passages at the tank cracked right where they meet the tank! Right now we are trying to get the truck back up and running, but obviously I need an intercooler! Anyone know where I can locate one for a decient price? I need the truck tomorrow to go to work!.

Thanx

Josh

Well, We Epoxy'ed the intercooler with a JB Weld like material, and it held 40PSI with our nifty home made testing tools. We reassembled it, but still have low boost and low power. We only gained 5psi from before. Any Ideas? We have checked the AFC, good, holds pressure and moves properly, Fuel pressure is at 28psi, and we switched my Air filter with Tims. We are leaning twords a fuel related problem, but the squeek really makes it a wierd problem. It may not be related, but it started just before all of this.

I think the mouse nest must have shifted.

Well I filled the truck up with fuel this morning on my way into work, the squeek was gone, but it was also wet out due to snow/rain that is falling. I don't care of the squeek is something else... . I'm sick of having a truck that a GEO has more power than.

Josh

Josh,

did you check the rest of the system (boots, manifold gsakets, plumbing etc?) Mine had an annoying squeek at 20psi and higher for a couple of days before I blew an intercooler boot off. Tightened up the boot and no squeek. I think you still have a boost leak in the system if you still have the squeek. Does the truck smoke more then normal?

Jr.

I don't seem to have any more smoke than usual... . less if anything. When we reinstalled everything we retested it, and everything held, so all the boots and pipes are holding pressure properly. Today after I got fuel the squeek seems to be gone, but I can't seem to build boost. We are thinking it's a fuel delivery problem, plenty of pressure, just not enough flow under full load.

josh,

sorry to hear about your miss fortune, I don't have any answers for ya, but let me know if you need another hand, or a tow, LOL Abe

Fox, your close. Yesterday I was changing out the rubber fuel lines and had to remove the fuel filter to get to the bottom clamps. I dumped it out and it's full of greenish/black crap. Alge. Great. I'm running a fuel additive that kills it. I was told that this stuff will kill it, and break it down so I don't have to drop the tank. So far a slight improvement in power. I plan on changing the fuel filter anyway after this tank (just filled up) to assure that I got everything out.

Josh

PS, JohnE, The fuel return lines took care of the uphill start problem I was having. I've parked the last 2 nights up my driveway and it has started with no problems.

do yourself a favor and carry a "few" extra fuel filters while the clean up goes on as you'll be filling them with crap fast and you don't want to be stuck in nowheresville
