What objects have you tugged with chains?

looking at new 5er

Traded 99 3500 2x2 for 20. 1 3500 4x4. Tow a 2000 40 ft Alfa Ideal. Will I have to flip the springs or lower the 4x4 to have the needed clearance to tow. Help and be gentle, this is my first post... ... .

Most Likely not. I had a 25 foot model, that because of the short distance between the hitch and first axle had to be flipped or I would drag the rear end down the road. Our new 5er is 34 feet and sets perfectly level. Newer Rvs have been designed for todays "taller" tow vehicles. Rule of thumb you should have at least 4-5 inches clearance between the bed rails and camper. Just hook er up and see. Good luck.

I tow a 38ft WeekendWarrior with my 01. 5 3500 4x4. I had the axles flipped so the trailer would sit level.
If I were you I would measure from the ground to the top of your bed then measure the height of the trailer, this should get you close. If you have less than four or five inches I would consider flipping the axles and adjusting hitch up to make everything level.

I've got a 3500 '01 and pull a 32ft. Spinnaker and have plenty of clearance. I understand that a good rule of thumb is to have about 5" clearance with bedrail as a minimum. Have fun with the new truck!

EODDEWEY I have a 99 2500 4x4 with 33's. I pull a 2000 40' Alfa Toyhouse and I flipped the axles for bed clearance. I would suggest you back up to the trailer and see if you will have the 5" of clearance between the bed and trailer. My dealer flipped mine for parts cost only since they didn't know if it would fit or not. Good Luck

I have a 31' Alfa and am going to have something done. It sits too much nose up for me and you can actually see there is more weight sitting on the rear axles by the way the tires look. This is with my '96 4x4 and I understand the '01 is higher still.
