Sitting @ McDonalds Drive thru this morning with heater and headlights on the motor kept on bogging down like they do when you first start it not sure what thats from I think its where its charging the batterys Im not sure on that. the thing is it kept doing it over and over and over I looked at the Ampres and it was loosing charge then bogging down then ideling right for about 5 sec then bam the amp meter would fly down to about 12 then the motor would bog down then the gauge would return to normal about 15 like I said it just kept doing it????

I turnt the heater off... ... no help

I turnt the head lights off... . no help

I gave it some fuel and ran 1500 rpm for about 30 sec... . it continued to do it at an idle

I had the comp on 2x2 I tuned it off and it charged up to 15 and stayed there!!!!?????????!!!!!!!!!????????

PLease Dont tell me My comp is screwing my truck up again... . loose connection crap ... . bad ground mumbo jumbo that gets old after reconnecting every thing 50 times!!!!!!!my connections are fine if the comps going to be so stinkin picky about its connections maybe it should be upgraded .

I turned the comp back on and everything was fine the truck held charge... .

Has anybody had this problem ???? Is it comp related ????or just a ca-win-ci-dence ??? OK I cant spell it

I noticed when warming mine up the lights some time dim a little . I think it has somthing to do with the AC compressor clutch you usualy can hear it click when it kicks on . It kicks on and off when it kicks on it puts more drag on the engine and drops the RPMs wich would drop most of your gauge readings. My Bronco does this but the lights don,t dime any. :D

it sound to me like the intake heater is turning on and off, you will see a drop in Volts when it does this, it could do this for 5 or 6 times.

is the truck at full temp? and did you shut it off and re-start it? it could do it everytime you re-start the truck even thou the truck is at full temp, my truck truns the heater on everytime i start it no matter what the temp is.

I shut the motor off at the speaker and started it back up and was waiting in line when I noticed it doing it... . so maybe its normal ... and it was warmed up by the time I turned the comp off???

not sure if I was up to temp or not I suppose its about 5 miles from home to MCYd's

thanks guys

I hate having to shutdown at the speaker everytime .

15-12

DM,,,, yes it sounds like your grid heaters were cycling when you were sitting there at Mickey D's. If the IAT senser sees less than 59*F no matter what your engine water temp is they are going to cycle. Makes things work a little with the 190 amp draw on the electrical system. My $. 02 . Oo.

mine does the same thing. i too, hate shutting it down so i can be heard. but like i tell everyone, there is no sneeking around with my truck. lol. mine was dimming really bad. i replaced the batteries, night and day difference.

I thought that was my ac clucth engagin and disingageing but it did,nt make sinse to me why it would do it with with out the ac on. Now i know whats going on i learn something every day here :D
