Driving home last night, from work, BD box on lowest setting plus my Hypertech program was loaded. I rounded the corner and it spit and sputtered then up and died. I tried to restart, it took a few seconds but finally restarted. I made it about a 1000 yards dead again. Harder to get restarted this time. Made it about 3 miles then completely dead. It would start if I cranked for a while and gave it throttle. It would run for a few seconds then die (lots of white smoke from tail pipe)

Personally I think its the lift pump (I hope) Cause when I turn key on I cant hear the pump cycle. NOTHING!! I have the FASS up in the bedroom, I think it may be time. Whats your opinion.

Also Im wondering if my Hypertech contributed towards this, after I loaded it the pump would run the whole time the key was on. Factory it would shut off after a few seconds (I beleive)

0602- check sum error. Basicly something wrong with fuel pressure.
0606- ECM hardware error- clear code, it it returns replace ECM
0628- Low voltage at lift pump - lengthy procedures in the manual about checking the relay but nothing about looking at the pump itself

Sounds EXACTLY what my truck did when the lift pump died.

I had the factory lift pump retro-fit done. The retro-fit lift pump (tank mount) sounds like it runs all the time, too. It was probably just time for yours to leave this earth. Drag out that FASS.

Sounds Like A Lift Pump To Me Too, How Much Damage Will Occur To A Cp-3 If Driven Say 250miles On Little To No Fuel Inlet Pressure

a 3rd gen will not run if the lift pump is not pumping. Period. A 24 valve will run because the VP$$ is drawing on the fuel supply, which weakens the pump. But looking at all your mods, Im sure you kow this.

Wrong... ..... all you have to do is remove the failed lift pump from the plumbing so as not to be a restriction. The truck will start, run and drive. I have done this to save pushing trucks around the shop. Another member here drove his 03 over 400 miles that way. :)

OK. Your in your 3rd gen truck and the lift pump dies. You pull over to the side of the road, take the lift pump off and all the plumbing, then restart the truck and drive to a repair facility.

GENIOUS!!!!

If you have the factory lift pump on a 03-04. 5 unmodified how does the fuel get in to the fuel filter if you remove the pump and dont have the adaptor for the fuel filter and all the lines to go with it. True the CP3 will draw fuel if plumbed to the tank with out restriction but most people dont carry those fittings with them.

I have supplied those necesary parts to friends to carry who travel where it would be an inconvenient place to fail. Anybody who owns a high risk vehicle who frequents any of the CTD boards should take the precautions he or she feels prudent ;)
