Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Truck is finally home....help with power upgrades!

Some of you may remember me posting about getting a truck from Florida and having it shipped to California... . well, it finally arrived last nite!!!

Anyway, this thing is GUTLESS! I just got home from the parts store, bought EGT, Trans Temp and 60 PSI boost gauge. I need some help in getting some free HP outta this thing. I removed the stock muffler today, not much help. I think someone once said something about moving the stock plate forward? How far forward should I go, and what all is involved? Are there any other cheep/free mods I can do quickly to up the boost maybe? I plan to get some real power soon, but I am currently outta large sums of cash for the moment.

Any help would be appreciated... especially if you live in Sacramento area and wanna stop by my house, or I stop by yours Oo.

1997 12valve, 5speed, bone stock, NON-Ca no EGR.

Your power may not be too bad,but if it has not been regeared for those tires it will feel a bit sluggish.
