Nick,

I am having a similiar issue, I just haven't been able to come to terms that it could be my truck :( . I looked underneath, can't find anything to show something. I'm hoping that it is someone else parking in my spot during the day. I'll be changing the oil soon, so I guess I'll take a better look then.

Don't loose any sleep over it X; that black tube is the blow-by and extreme RPM will blow more out then you would normally see. Add that to a fresh oil change and it isn't surprising in the least. Check your oil under correct conditions and drain a little out if need be.

In my 98. 5 after pulling my trailer I could look under the truck at rest stops and the oil gasses would be blasting out of that tube like a geyser. Hard running evaporates condensation out of the oil and burns out the additives, etc. That's one of the reasons it's not good to run a vehicle too cold (low temp thermostats)! The additives burning off also gives me pause with respect to full synthetics and extended drain intervals; but that's a whole different thread. The point is when other stuff is getting evaporated out some oil vapors are naturally carried along.

Anyways; engines running too cool is a problem with the hot rodders putting in lower temp thermostats. The oil doesn't get hot enough to burn out condensation, etc, and then more engine wear and damage. If you run your vehicle hard and get it hot; not a problem. If your hot rod sits in the garage most of the time and only cruises around town on cruise nights; problem. Too hot is bad and not hot enough is also bad.

Thanks BigMak. I have been looking at the truck since sunday and nothing else is coming out. So i know everything is ok.

Thanks Everyone

3400RPM

Dealer has had mine up to 3500 (sustained) many times replicating my problem with surge on launch. No parts laying on the road yet. I don't like it but I don't have a choice.
