Today I was pulling a small trailer when all of a sudden the truck felt as if it was loosing power. No matter where I held the throttle the truck would not accelerate. Sometimes I could let up on the throttle and the power would come back and sometimes it wouldn't. If anyone has experienced this problem I would appreciate some help.

My truck is a '99 with an EZ box and an AFE filter.

Thanks,

Michael

Key thing doesnt work on 99. You will have to have the codes read or buy a reader. Sounds like it could be apps. codes 0121 and 0122. Hope this helps.

Michael - it doesn't sound good. I have a2002 truck with a 6 spd. About two years ago on a hot August day with my camper on climbing a windy mountain grade, I my truck ecperienced exactly the same symptons that you mention. The engine ran smoothly, but no power. Then the power comes back. At first this occurred randomly only during hot weather. At this time the truck had 64,000 miles. It ran fine during the next winter months, then the sudden power loss started happening again under similar conditions, but more frequently. At 87,000 miles, I decided I had better do something about it. Thanks to TDR members, I did find I had the 0216 code as SNOKING mentions. Withnell Dodge in Salem, Oregon fixed it under warranty. The factory fix is to install an OEM later model in-tank transfer pump and a remanufactured VP-44 injection pump. So far, so good - I have 123,000 miles on the truck, now.

Thanks to everyone who offered their advise. This weekend I'll start with the easier (read cheaper) fixes and go from there. This is a great forum and well worth the price.

Thanks again,

Michael

my truck is doing the exact same thing i took it to moonlight diesel and he cleaned and tightend the grounds on the batteries and recalibrated the tps that fixd it
