I have an 03 HO 3500 completely stock 125389 miles just quit running as i turned in to a friends driveway. No steering or brakes etc. Blocked the street completely just returned from a 200 mile trip . It ran perfect up and on return, untill i tried to make that turn. It died and it took just a minute to get it to crank back up died again. (5 sec). Cranked it up drove around to rear of house ( 200 yds) died again. Let it set, opened drain valve at filter and let drain. (7;30 Pm ) dark could not see color of liquid at seperator. primed engine and restarted, drove three miles back home with white smoke coming out of tail pipe lots of it. siphon diesel fuel out when i got home yellowish blue in color but tasted more like unleaded gas than diesel ? %0 miles from home i filled up with diesel fuel at murphy oil. (23 gallons) cranked fine ran great until i got to my friends driveway. Help if can . thanks any ideas?

If you think the fuel has gasoline in it, then pour about an ounce on a concrete floor ( must be calm) and try to light it with a lighter. Diesel won't light.

I bet you have gas in your fuel... ... . pull another sample and try to light it up. If its gas, drain it all out, I would also drain your fuel filter bowl and refill with diesel.

Good luck, gas has been known to take out ye ole injection pump.

As a side note, if you got gas in your diesel at a station I would call them and tell them they are going to cover any repairs. Be sure to keep the fuel reciept and get after them. I know most stations will cover it.

Just got some codes will need help d-scrifering please. P0628 p0700 p0602. Maybe some ideas on repair/replace options if possible. Thanks

Just got some codes will need help d-scrifering please. P0628 p0700 p0602.

P0628 = Fuel Pump "A" Control Circuit Low

P0700 = Transmission Control System (MIL Request)

P0602 = Powertrain Control Module Programming Error

The first one sets when low voltage is detected at the lift pump.

Most probable cause to set that code is faulty lift pump though other things can also cause this code.

There is a retrofit to discard the old lift pump mounted at the fuel filter and mount a replacement in the fuel tank.

Don't discount the bad fuel idea either since you had just fueled up.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the other two fault codes at the moment.

ok thanks ! now what components are included in fuel pump "A" control ckt. is this

like the vp44 pump or what. what test is next! where to from here? thanks

The Lift pump should be capable of passing 400ml in 10 seconds, if not its bad or the filter could be clogged. I can fax you the test procedure if you have a fax number. It requires some special tools.

DUDE... ..... I think you're the badass... if you can taste the fuel sample and discribe it... . you are the man!
