Towing a Dodge RAM 1500 4x4

I'm still broke down & needing to get a fifth wheel to Pa. before the holidays. Does anyone have any ideas where I could rent a truck with a hitch? Thanks for any replys.

What about ryder rent a truck? One of the about posts says a 5th wheel will hook up to a class 8 semi so why cant you rent one of those?

Both Ryder and Hertz have some class 6 or 7 units for rent... . unless you have a class A license and a few years experience and have used them before... than your OK... you can't just walk in off the street like you do with with a trailer or pickup... at least here they are very picky about who they rent their larger stuff to.....

Remember the bombing in Oklahoma City, and the early WTC.....

There is a huge risk factor when you move from a small truck hauling some home furnishing to renting a tractor and hooking up to a trailer with 60K lbs... . When one of our larger trucks has been in for service I've rented from both Penske and Ryder... both are expensive... . to rent by the day, week, or month... just the mileage charges are steep... . We've used them off and on for 8 or 10 years..... but each time we rent they want 2 or 3 days notice and a copy of the drivers license and run him before they rent you the truck... . and we have an established accounts with both... .

Now I'm sure its different for the big guys... those that rent all the time or have tractors on long term leases..... They would have to be treated differently... but we don't use them more than once every other year or so... ...

Hope this helps.....

Jim
