Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Truck running cold...thermostat

Hey all, we are getting our first bit of cold weather here in N. Texas and seems like the truck is not getting up to temp occasionally. Sometimes it will only get up to 160 on the road and if I let it idle, it will stay colder 150. I have two temp gauges so I know they are accurate.



However, sometimes it runs at 180* just fine. Could the thermostat be getting stuck?



What is the correct new part number for a thermostat?

how long are the trips your taking. when it gets cold mine wont get to temp until at least 10 miles of driving. cruising on the freeway the thermostat will shut and reopen. with the thermostat open the engine doesnt make enough heat to keep it open. that when its humid and below 50.
