Ok Ive had an intermitant problem with my truck for a while now... . Here is what it does:

For the most part it runs awesome, but once in a while it just acts like there is no fuel. It idles fine and if youre getting on it it will drive you right down the road. When you get into the throttle it just falls off the tubo still spools up and you can hear it spooling back down... . Usually if you just shut the key off , and then coast for a few seconds , it will start right up and run good again until the next time it acts up. It also seems to do this more often when its really cold outside (like today -8 f)

The truck is an 03 5. 9 HO 6 speed regular cab 4X4... It was bone stock when I got it and started doing this on my way home from buying it... . It now has an edge juice with additude K&N filtercharger MBRP $" exhaust with their muffler.

The things Ive tried already are:

Multiple fuel filters

New lift pump (on the filter housing)

apps

dropped the tank and cleaned it out spotless including the pick-up assy

new fca

swapped fuel pressure sensor

It has no codes

It also has new bosch injectors

Any help with figuring this out would be highly appriciated!!

First thing I would do is pull off the Edge to elimanate the possibility it is causing the problems. Do you have a rail pressure or low pressure guage?

Aaron

It did the excact same thing before I installed the EDGE ... . The Fuel pressure gauge I have is the low pressure (lift pump) style.

Is it odd for a truck to jump right up to high idle imidiatly at start-up... . I mean i hit the key it started right up and went right away to 1000 rpm, usaually it takes a little bit before it revs up to high idle.

I don't know where you are located, but you may want to check your electrical grounds. I believe there are more than one.

1000 RPM on Startup - It will do that when it's at or below a certain ambient temperature. Mine has done it more this year than it has done all the previous years combined. It seems to do it more if it sits for a day or two without being plugged in.

Well I finally took it to the stealership ... They Have it diagosed as the fuel lift pump. . even though I already replaced it with a new one, It only has 200 somethings per some time period and its suppoed to have 400. So I guess I will be having the fump in the tank now... . I just hope it actually cures it ,cause its getting to be an old deal...

Well, they installed the fuel pump and (finger crossed) it runs like never before! I hope its over with now and I can actually start to like this truck.

Saw this old post, not sure if same part is on your truck, I have a 2002. No codes were thrown, acted like bad TPS, Fuel injection Pump or? Turned out to be Speed Sensor on back of Over Drive Housing. $13. 00 at Autozone with three year Warranty. One Inch Socket takes it off. Work fast as fluid comes with it.

search the forum for air conditioner wire short on 03 models. it has been a while since i had my 03 but i had a similar problem and it was a short from a ac wire. i know it sounds crazy but mine wouldn't pull 10k past 55 on flat ground. no codes and would be fine after a restart for a little while then back to no power. fixed the wire short and wala. i belive there is a tsb from dodge on this as well but dealers never read those things they just like to replace fuel pumps and call it good. that is what they did it to mine 3 times in a row. what is the luck to get three bad pumps in a row?

I think this was first posted by "Steved". Should help your search.
