Towing west to midwest. Need ideas

Does anyone know of a truck stop with a scale near Grand Rapids, MN?

I brought our groomer down to ASV for repair work and I'm curious what my GCW is with this in tow. It's a 32' Featherlite STL and an ASV DX4530. The best I can find is that the groomer undercarriage weighs 4500lbs and can carry 12K. The 8-way blade is pretty heavy and the trailer is custom so Featherlite doesn't give a weight.

I'm thinking it's pretty heavy as I only got 8. 1mpg at 57mph on 1x1.

Any of these close?

Could go through the state scales on the interstate also. Just go in and talk to them first.

Another option would be to go to A local grain elevator/fertilizer plant. May charge a couple of bucks, may not.

The Cat scales, I think are something like $6-10.

scale ?

First I would not go to the stat scale you might be over weight and get a ticket and have to unload and pay for some one to move it . You have scrap yards . Gravel pits, Garbage dumps all have truck scales ,look in Phone book . Ron Bissett In Metro Louisville KY Oo.

Question. If you go to a truck stop and weigh your rig, can or will they turn you in to the highway patrol if you are over weight? I can't see how that would benefit them.

One of these should be close...

Tramp, they do NOT turn you in. They charge you $8 that is how it benefits them.

Thanks

Checking all these shows a huge void when it comes to MN, truck stops and scales:

0 - Flying J

2 - TA, Twin Cities and south

0 - Loves

0 - Petro, one in Fargo

0 - Pilot

This place shows all DOT scales, still too far away. :(

I'll have to look for a grain scale I think.

BTW Pat, that is our small groomer, only a 125hp Deere engine. Our big groomer has a 275hp Perkins and 66" wide tracks (Bombadier MP). I could haul it but is certainly wouldn't be within 20K GCW. :D

A gravel pit will probably be your best bet, at least that's close. As you know there aren't really any truckstops in MN, at least not this part of the state.

South Dakota will in a heart beat! I use to deliver ice cream to Grand Rapids, I can't think of a scale one, except where US2 & MN37 cross N of Cloquet. Isn't there one at the truckstop in Virginia, N of town?

Careful analysis of weight helps to plan anything. Numerous of weight scale companies offering numerous types of scales and weight helping indicators on different locations. A gravel pit will be suitable for you.

All large cities have certified scales for the household moving and storage industry. They can be found in the local yellow pages. They'll usually be found in an older industrial area of most cities.
