Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Truck shudders when braking (sometimes)

Hello All-I have a 01 Ram 4X4 Quad cab,that I swear would make a milkshake out of a cup of milk sitting in my in dash cupholder. When braking (but not everytime) the truck shudders. Anyone got clue as to what causes this phenomenon?Thanks to all who reply.

Drives me nuts on my 99. No AWAL and rear drums - I have replaced the drums and shoes even had the drums trued, still does it However, the wheels are bent I have the chrome "potato chips" and am shopping for replacements.



You have AW disk right? Before you go crazy check wheels & tires, then do runout on the rotors. try using the emerg brake and see if it does same to narrow down where the shudder is comming from the front or the rear. Good luck.

I had a problem like that afew years ago on a 94 V-10. Sometimes would shake so hard I thought the truck would come

apart. Turned out to be the ABS computer was going south, I guess pulsing the pistons erratically which would cause the shake.

The mechanic just disconnected the ABS and has been fine since

(couldn't afford the $500 for new module).
