Alright, so truck did it again today. No warning signs or anything. Started truck, idled for a couple minutes, for in clutch and brake,b pulled e brake and truck shut off.

I've checked everything I can think off to check. Not sure why my truck is shutting off when I pull the ebrake and it's completely random when it's happening!!!!

Also no DTC or anything. Ive used 4 different scanners. Batteries checked good and so did alternator.

I've checked all plugs under the dash and wiring nothing is chaffed or frayed. I checked the ignition switch and battery on the key fob.

I've checked all fuses and the safety switch. I've traced the ebrake cable all the way back and other than the rubber isolator in the cable near the driver wheel rubbing the frame like usual I am at a complete lose as to why this is happening and I can almost guarantee going to the dealer will be a waste of both time and money.

comrade - my guess is its related to the e brake or whatever wire goes to it ( see my prev post - my truck idles down when i release the e brake only ... ) i would go look on my truck for you - however its currently in thigh deep snow. is it possible that when the brake slaps upwards when released it is rattling some other connection nearby? maybe from now on when you release the brake place your foot on it and do a " soft " release ? then see if it shuts off? good luck comrade. cheers!

Have you tries wiggling all the wires under the dash while the engine is running to see if you can get it to shut off? I have found that the easiest way to find loose connections...

Start it with the e brake off and then set e brake and release, see if it is isolated to just that spot, how about wiring under dash, put your head or camera under dash see what happens when released, or even wires around clutch pedal, just a thought, Monte

Thanks nukegm, I must have missed that post. I just tried installing an old safety switch that I pulled from my old clutch assembly before I trashed it as it was only 6months old.

The one that was on seemed to have part of the copper pads inside messed up so not sure if maybe that might have been the culprit. I also don't seem to see a wire to the ebrake on my truck.

Aedelhit,

I will give that a shot tomorrow and see what happens.

Monte,

I will do that as well. I'll do what I can get this to do it again and report back what I find.

So I got home last night. Parked the truck without using the parking brake.

Got into the truck this morning, fired up and took off no issues. Drive the 1.5hrs to work. Got into parking lot and engaged/disengaged the parking brake 30 times. Yes I counted. Truck never once shut off.

It is currently pouring rain and 43* in Dallas right now and since I don't have to leave my office at any point today I am going to see how she reacts in 5hours. I put the parking brake on this time when I got out to see if it is infact something getting jarred when I release the brake.

hope you figure it out. usually things like this are something simple. i had my 01 2500 in 2 shops a total of 9 times for no / hard start on uphill only. they threw injection pumps, computers, removed power puck etc. no one ever solved it. then in a blizzard in my driveway i found the culprit - one of the washers with the built in o ring on the fuel filter housing was bad. i replaced that, and the fuel siphoning away like your finger on a straw was gone/solved. 9 1 hour trips each way, 9 rides arranged, and such for a silly 2 dollar washer. and im not a mechanic either. just a caveman carpenter. good luck randomrunner. cheers!

Just thinking out loud here...

The only way to shut these trucks off is to stop the flow of fuel, correct? What does the e-brake have to do with the fuel shutoff? Is there a short that's telling the ECM something is wrong? What else could be causing to fuel to stop flowing?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Far as I can tell fuel pressure is stable at all times. I'm wondering if something under the dash is what's getting bumped? I'm still searching

Smoking,I

don't know cause it's so sporadic. So far I've tried getting in the truck first thing the in morning and letting it out slowly by hand about 30 times and never died. Also doesn't die if I don't set the brake and start it, then use clutch to get in gear.

Then I let it slam 30 times and never died.

I am wondering if it was in fact the safety switch doing something. I'm continuing to monitor the issue and if it happens again I'll post back. Last time it happened was Tuesday about mid-day. And before that was Thursday morning last week. Based on the trend I'm expecting it to happen again today or tomorrow.

I will post back so others can know if they ever have this problem.

No sir. Ive got the keyfob with the ignition on the dash. Thought about that as well so i have tried removing the knee panel to get access to the ignition box and have tried tapping it to see if truck shuts off and still nothing.
